a note from the curator
the play
We’re a group of 11 artists from the WdKA Fine Arts graduating year, researching what it means to live and work together and what an anti-hierarchical space can be. For our exhibition at the ECC, we have devised a conceptual framework within which to present ourselves individually and collectively, using the principle of generosity as point of departure. By transforming the exhibition space into a setting for a ‘play,’ we focus on the democratic process of collective making as the work itself. The play is used as a structure to incorporate time and space as crucial points in collaborative artistic production.

By making a fluid artwork centred around knowledge production, research, and interaction with the public, we aim to question traditional hierarchies. By inviting other students, locals and artists for collaboration over the course of the five-month exhibition, we will bring together various groups from the European context to facilitate a platform for cultural exchange. The play is defining a space where the individual and collective can co-exist and nurture each other.
